Love is universal phenomenon. every being in the world, human or animal, young or old needs love. For a newborn baby survival is of the first importance. But without love he may not continue his life. We receive love from our mothers since the very first moment of our birth. And throughout our lives we expect her love. As mother is the source of love without her presence the existence of our world would have been something null and void. Through our mothers we tend to love the external world. Although every being has an innate tendency to be loved by others we must first give our love to others in order to receive their love. For human beings nothing other than this principle of love could be more important.

Tree Planting

Man is thoroughly dependent on trees
to satisfy many of his wants. Food
timber medicine firewood and shade
are some of them. Sri lanka is rich
with and array of tree species which
provide for almost every requirement
of it’s nation. But as depletion trees
is on the rise we seem to lose this
gift of nature almost completely in
the near future.
The destruction of our natural
vegetation
is said to have begun in the reign
of the british. They destroyed trees
for the cultivation of commercial crops
such as tea and coffee.
The destruction of trees in turn drstroyed
the pleasant climate of our country. Thus
unless we strive to reforest our land our
country will become an arid desert at the end.

Vesak Festival

Vesak Festival festival is celebrated all over the world to mark the birth the attainment of Buddhahood and away of lord Buddha. In large cities pandals are erected. In smaller ones small pandals are erected. Alms are given to the poorthough “Dansala” at every junction. Pepple organise to offer soft drinks to the sight seeers. No one refuses these generous offers. To please others they accept same. In sri lanka the impressive decorationsand illuminations for vesak are found in Colombo and kandy. The tourists make it a point to visit our country during vesak. The Dalada Maligawa and Kalaniya Temple are the well decorated and illuminated places. The temple of the tooth relic is and attraction of the tourists Vesak days.

Martin Wickramasinghe

Matin Wickramasinghe was born on 29th of May 1889 in koggala,
a village in the southern province of sri lanka. When he was child ,
he used to study animals, plants,water and literature.later he wrote
books about them for children.
Some of his books have been translated in to the Russian language and
some other languages.As such his noivels have become famous in the world.
He died on the 23rd of july 1976. He is one of the best authors in sri lanka

RIVER NILWALA

River Nilwala is the third longest river in Sri Lanka. It starts from the hill country in Deniyaya and Rakwana. It runs through Deniyaya town, Morawaka, Akuressa and reaches the city of Matara where it joins the Indian Ocean at Thotamuna. This river irrigates a lot of landscape along its way from Deniyaya. Tea, rubber and paddy cultivation are the main crops which are irrigated by this river. Other than these crops many other crops such as cardamom, cinnamon and vegetable plantations are also being irrigated. North of Matara city and its suburbs often get flooded during the rainy season. To arrest this problem a scheme was initiated by the Ministry of Irrigation in 1979 with assistance from the Government of France. Now the first stage of the Project is completed . This flood protection scheme is successful and the areas which got flooded are now under paddy cultivation.

Since very long ago people used to domesticate dogs. Dogs are just kept for hunting and watching and as companion of man. There are different breeds of dogs. Alsations Foxterriers pomenarians Bull-terries and Grey hounds are some of them .Dogs favourite food is bones. Some times they bury one of the bones given to them. It may be for future use. Dogs fond of running in packs. When it is a time for them to do they bay. Some times dogs become infected with a terrible disease. This disease is called rabies. When a dog is infected with the rabies virus they go mad.
